Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some of the questions we hear most often at Rich’s Stitches. If your question isn’t answered on this page, please contact us and we’ll be in touch with an answer as soon as possible.

General

Can I bring my own items for you to embroider?

Yes! We provide custom embroidery on nearly any piece of clothing or other fabric you can think of. If you are unsure whether your item can have a logo or text embroidered on it, give us a call to discuss.

Can I bring in T-shirts for you to add a screen-printed logo?

No. We provide our screen printing services on certain brands of shirts. Please review our apparel catalog for a full list of the products we can screen print.

Garment Care

Most care instruction labels pertain to the garment and not to the embroidered or screen printed pattern. Special care should be taken when laundering embroidered or screen printed garments. Rich’s Stitches cannot be responsible for any consequential damages to embroidered or screen printed garments.

Can my embroidered or screen printed clothes be washed at home?

Yes. All embroidered garments should be washed with a mild detergent. If necessary, a small amount of chlorine bleach can be used. Non-chlorine bleach in accordance with product instructions is preferable.
Follow these instructions to safely clean your embroidered and screen printed clothing:

  • Machine wash in cold water on the ‘delicate’ wash cycle
  • If color residue appears in the water, rinse first in lukewarm water and then cold water several times until the rinse water becomes clear
  • Remove the garment promptly after the wash cycle is complete
  • Never leave any piece of embroidered clothing soaking in water or lying in a pile while wet
  • Do not wring out embroidered clothing; hang to let dry
  • Do not rub stained embroidery. Call us for additional care instructions.

Can I dry clean my embroidered or screen printed apparel?

Embroidery may be dry-cleaned. However, extreme care should be exercised when dry cleaning. Special care must be taken when dark shades are dry-cleaned. Avoid using any pre=spotting agents.

Which embroidered clothing items can be industrially laundered?

Garments that are embroidered with Super Brite Polyester or #7 Polyester Floss can be industrially laundered when proper procedures are followed, as outlined by the International Fabricare Institute. Please call or send a fax for additional details.

Can my embroidered clothing be ironed?

Yes. However, there are a few things to keep in mind before ironing your embroidered apparel.

  • Embroidered fabrics should always be ironed on the reverse side.
  • It is recommended to iron embroidery between two pieces of cloth
  • It is not recommended to wet embroidery prior to ironing or to use a steam iron

Turnaround Time

How long will it take to receive my completed order?

Every project we do at Rich’s Stitches is completely customized to your specific needs, so we don’t have a set timeframe that applies to every project. However, the majority of projects fit within the timeframes listed below:

  • Embroidery – One to two weeks.
  • Screen Printing – Two weeks.
  • Promotional Products – Next day to two weeks.

Rush orders are available within a week by request and for a fee.  Please contact us with your specifications and we’ll let you know a more accurate turnaround time for your order.

Pricing

How much will my order cost?

Because each of our embroidery, screen printing and promotional product orders is completely custom, we don’t provide standardized pricing. Let us know the specifics for your order and we’ll be happy to provide a custom quote for you.

Is there a minimum quantity for my order?

We do not require a minimum quantity for custom embroidery orders, though minimums may apply to promotional product orders depending on the item ordered. Screen printing orders require at least 24 items.

Artwork

What type of artwork files do I need?

Please send us the highest DPI (quality) file you have available, or any vector-based art that you have. We require .ai or .eps files that are not bitmap embedded images. If you are supplying a Raster image format, it should be saved as .tiff or .psd for one-color, or as a .psd file with layers for multi-color images whenever possible.

Please remember to convert all text to outlines or curves as opposed to editable fonts when submitting a file. All art files submitted may require additional art charges upon review, at a rate of $65/hr ($25 minimum), or via custom quote.

What is Camera Ready artwork?

Professional black and white mechanicals and black mechanicals on high-gloss paper make good camera-ready art. The following are not camera-ready:

  • Photocopies
  • Pen and/or pencil drawings
  • Newspaper or Yellow Pages ads
  • Business cards
  • Letterheads
  • Raised thermographic printing

Although we can digitize artwork in these formats, the quality will only be as good as the material you supply. Camera-ready layouts help us to deliver the highest quality in our embroidery and screen printing.
